RigSpawnDesk earns commission on qualifying purchases made through links on this site. This page explains exactly how that works and, more importantly, what it does not affect.

01The disclosure itself

RigSpawnDesk is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.

When you follow a product link from this site and make a qualifying purchase, we may receive a commission. The price you pay is not affected — it is the same whether you arrive through this site or type the address yourself.

This disclosure appears once on every page that carries affiliate links, near the top, before any product recommendation. It is not hidden in a footer.

02How links are tagged

Every product link on this site follows the same pattern: an Amazon product address with our associate tag appended as a query parameter. On this build the tag placeholder is YOURTAG-20.

Affiliate links carry rel attributes marking them as sponsored and no-follow, which is both the search-engine convention and the honest signal. Links to standards bodies, agencies, and reference material are ordinary links and carry no tag — those are references, not recommendations to buy.

03What the relationship does not influence

It does not decide which products appear. It does not decide the order they appear in. It does not decide what is said about them, and it does not soften the trade-offs section on any entry.

Every product page here lists trade-offs in a fixed position, visible by default, not hidden behind a click. If a product has a meaningful weakness it is stated at the same weight as its strengths. That is the same whether or not a link earns anything.

Commission rates across this category do not vary enough to make it worth distorting a recommendation, and the trade — a marginal rate difference against being publicly wrong — is a bad one on its own terms.

04What we refuse

No content on this site is sponsored. No manufacturer, agency, or PR representative has been given advance sight of a page, review rights, approval rights, or the ability to request a change to editorial content.

  • No sponsored posts, paid placement, or paid inclusion in any list
  • No guest posts or paid link insertions
  • No review units accepted in exchange for coverage
  • No pre-publication review by any brand named on the site
  • No affiliate program joined on the condition of favourable coverage

05Why the site works this way

Affiliate revenue funds the writing. The alternative models — display advertising, sponsored placement, or a paywall — each carry their own distortions, and affiliate commission at least aligns the incentive with recommending something the reader is glad they bought.

The failure mode of affiliate publishing is well known: pages that exist to rank rather than to inform, ranked by what pays rather than what fits, with the weaknesses omitted. The countermeasures here are structural rather than promissory — no prices to chase, no scores to inflate, trade-offs in a fixed visible position, and uneven category counts because we did not pad lists to hit a number.

06If you would rather not use the links

That is entirely reasonable and it costs you nothing to do. Note the product name, search for it directly at any retailer, and buy it there. The information on this site is free either way and none of it is gated behind a click.
