Privacy policy

LAST UPDATED 2026 // RIGSPAWNDESK.COM

RigSpawnDesk is a reading site. There is no account system, no login, no comment section, and no user database. This page sets out what that means in practice and where the exceptions are.

01What we do not collect

We do not operate user accounts, so there is nothing to register for and no profile attached to you. We do not host comments and we do not run a forum. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information, because we do not hold a store of it to sell.

We do not attempt to identify individual visitors, build advertising profiles, or track you across other websites. There is no advertising network embedded in these pages.

02Server logs

Like essentially every website, the hosting infrastructure records standard technical request data — IP address, user agent string, referring page, the URL requested, and a timestamp. This is generated automatically by the server and is used for security, abuse prevention, and diagnosing faults.

These logs are retained for a limited operational period and then discarded. They are not combined with anything else to identify you, and they are not shared with third parties except where required to operate the service or comply with a lawful request.

03Analytics

Where analytics are used, they are configured to measure aggregate page traffic — how many people read a page, roughly where in the world they were, and which pages they arrived from. The purpose is to know which pages are worth revising.

We do not use analytics to identify individuals, and we do not enable advertising or cross-site tracking features within them.

04The newsletter

If you subscribe to Patch Notes, we store the email address you give us for the purpose of sending it. That is the only reason it is held, and it is not used for anything else or passed to anyone else.

Every send carries an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing removes the address. You can also write to us and ask for it to be removed and it will be, without needing a reason.

05Affiliate links and cookies

Product links on this site point to Amazon and carry an affiliate tag. When you follow one, Amazon may set cookies to attribute a subsequent purchase. That process is operated by Amazon under its own privacy policy, not ours, and we do not receive your personal details from it.

What we can see is aggregate reporting: that a number of clicks or orders came from the site. We do not see who you are, what else you looked at, or what else you bought.

  • We never receive your name, address, or payment details from an affiliate purchase
  • We do not place advertising cookies of our own
  • Amazon cookie behaviour is governed by Amazon, and you can review it in their privacy notice

06External links

Pages here link to standards bodies, public-health agencies, safety organisations and retailers. Once you follow a link you are on someone else site under their policies. We choose what to link to but we do not control what those sites do.

07Children

This site is aimed at a general adult audience. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has submitted information — realistically, an email address to the newsletter — write to us and it will be removed.

08Your rights and how to exercise them

Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information a site holds about you, and to object to certain processing. Because the only personal data we hold is a newsletter email address, in practice this almost always resolves to removing that address.

Write to info@rigspawndesk.com and say what you want done. We will act on it. We may need to confirm the request came from the address in question, which is the only verification step involved.

09Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will replace this page and the year on it will change. Continuing to use the site after a change indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
